XGIMI releases Z9X 4K High Brightness Edition in China

A Nichia QuaLas 42 tri-colour laser lifts the Z9X from 1,300 to 1,600 CVIA lumens for CNY 3,299, on sale in China with no international date.

XGIMI releases Z9X 4K High Brightness Edition in China

CNY 3,299 buys the brightest Z9X yet, but only in China. XGIMI released the Z9X 4K High Brightness Edition there in August as a regional update with a newer tri-colour laser system, higher brightness and dynamic-contrast claims than the standard Z9X, plus a 120Hz mode and a quoted 1ms gaming latency. It is a launch to track from outside China because XGIMI often develops compact laser-projector hardware first in its domestic market.

A new Nichia laser, about 8% more light

The upgrade centres on the light engine. XGIMI has fitted a new Nichia-made QuaLas 42 tri-colour RGB laser, which the company says raises brightness by about 8% over the previous module to 1,600 CVIA lumens, against 1,300 CVIA lumens on the original Z9X launched in October 2025. CVIA is China's own lumens standard, distinct from ANSI or ISO 21118, so neither figure maps directly onto Western-market ratings. Dynamic contrast is quoted at 30,000:1, up from 20,000:1 on the standard model, while native contrast is listed separately at 1,600:1. XGIMI also cites DCI-P3 and 110% BT.2020 colour coverage, plus HDR Vivid support with SGS certification aimed at reducing laser speckle and colour fringing.

Everything else carries over from the existing Z9X design: native 4K resolution from a 0.39-inch DMD chip, a 0.98-1.3:1 optical zoom that throws a 100-inch image from about 2.17 metres, and a body that weighs 1.5kg and measures 7.8cm thick. The integrated gimbal stand still tilts through 150 degrees and doubles as a carry handle.

Gaming and connectivity carry over too

The High Brightness Edition keeps the standard Z9X's dual display mode, switching between native 4K at 60Hz and 1080p at 120Hz, with input lag as low as 1ms and support for variable refresh rate and auto low-latency mode. Audio runs through Harman Kardon-tuned speakers with DTS:X decoding, and the connection panel offers two HDMI ports, one with eARC, two USB 2.0 ports, a DC power input and a 3.5mm audio jack.

Price and market

XGIMI has priced the Z9X 4K High Brightness Edition at CNY 3,299, equivalent to roughly $489 or €423 at current exchange rates, and it is on sale now through XGIMI's Chinese retail channels, including its presence on JD.com. Coverage from Notebookcheck notes the model is expected to reach international markets eventually under the Elfin Flip series naming rather than as a Z9X variant. No XGIMI global or European product page currently lists it, and no international price or date has been confirmed, so its software and pricing should not be assumed for Europe or North America.
