ViewSonic launches LS740-4K 5,000-lumen laser projector
Two launch prices, $1,899.99 and $1,799.99, sit on ViewSonic's own pages for the LS740-4K, a 5,000-lumen native 4K laser projector with a Golf Mode.

ViewSonic has put two prices on the LS740-4K. The August 18 launch announcement gives an estimated street price of $1,899.99; the company's own product page lists the same model at $1,799.99. Until wider stock is confirmed, either figure is a launch-window estimate rather than a fixed retail price. The projector itself is a lamp-free laser model with native 3840x2160 4K UHD resolution, 5,000 ANSI lumens and a 1.6x optical zoom, aimed at education, enterprise, retail, hospitality, home entertainment and golf-simulator use, with availability from August 2026.
Golf Mode is included for colour tuning in simulator environments, boosting blues and greens so fairways and putting surfaces read more naturally on a simulator screen, while the zoom and installation-oriented design are intended to make the projector adaptable to different rooms and mounting positions.
Laser life, dust sealing and the throw range
ViewSonic rates the LS740-4K's laser phosphor light source for up to 30,000 hours in SuperEco mode and 20,000 hours in normal mode, a range the company says cuts energy use by up to 49 percent against equivalent lamp-based projectors. The optical engine carries an IP6X dust seal, aimed at long service life in the kind of continuously running installations, classrooms and simulator bays where a projector rarely gets switched off.
Throw ratio runs from 1.4 to 2.24, giving a 100-inch image at roughly 3.1 metres, with digital zoom extending from 0.8x to 2.0x on top of the optical range. There is no mechanical lens shift; placement flexibility instead comes from 4-corner adjustment and horizontal and vertical keystone correction, alongside 360-degree orientation for ceiling, floor or portrait mounting. ViewSonic quotes a dynamic contrast figure of 3,000,000:1, a dynamic rating rather than a native on/off ratio.
Connections, and the two siblings it shares a chip with
Connectivity covers two HDMI 2.0 inputs with HDCP 2.3, USB-A, RJ45 LAN and RS232 for networked control, plus a 3.5mm audio output and a single 15W internal speaker. Dimensions are 286 x 216 x 129mm at 3.10kg, keeping it in the same compact-installation class as ViewSonic's existing LS740HD and LS740W models, which use the same 0.65-inch DMD platform at 1080p and WXGA resolution respectively.
That places the LS740-4K between conventional meeting-room projection and specialist home-cinema models. The specification is built around bright images and lower maintenance, while native 4K output and flexible optics broaden the types of spaces it can serve, from a classroom running all day to a golf simulator bay with a fixed, ultra-wide screen.
