Acer C350e puts a detachable Gemini AI Badge on a EUR 199 portable
A EUR 199 duck-shaped 1080p LED portable whose round front panel detaches into a Gemini-powered remote and photo display, shipping in EMEA from Q1 2027.

Pull the round display off the front of the C350e and it becomes the remote control. That is the pitch behind an otherwise entry-level portable Acer showed at its next@acer press conference in Berlin on 2 September 2026, during IFA: 1080p native, an LED light source and a 0.93kg body shaped, unmistakably, like a duck.
Acer says the detached panel stays useful when nothing is being projected, cycling through personal photos, widgets and Google Gemini interactions. Acer calls it the AI Badge.
The AI Badge, and the gaps around it
The confirmed description is narrow: a detachable remote with a round screen that displays photos, offers widgets and enables "AI-driven interactions powered by Google Gemini".
The omissions are as telling as the description. There is no statement of whether the badge holds its own battery, how it connects when detached, whether Gemini runs on the badge or on the projector, or which markets get Gemini at launch. Acer also footnotes the projector's "built-in smart system" without naming it, and Google TV is not mentioned anywhere in the announcement, which is unusual for a device leaning on Gemini branding.
350 ANSI lumens, one HDMI 1.4 port, a swivel stand
Acer quotes 8,000 LED lumens and 350 ANSI lumens. Only the second figure is comparable to other projectors, and 350 ANSI lumens is a dim, evening-only output. The LED lumen number is a perceptual measure and should be ignored when shopping.
The rest matches the price. Dynamic contrast is 1,000:1. The lens is fixed at a 1.3 throw ratio, giving 69.5 inches at two metres, with no optical zoom. Autofocus comes from a camera module, with plus or minus 30 degrees of keystone correction and four-corner adjustment. Audio is two 3W speakers plus Bluetooth 5.4 output, noise is rated at 35dBA, and LED life at up to 30,000 hours.
Connectivity is thin: one HDMI 1.4 input, one USB Type-A 2.0, a 5V DC out and a 3.5mm jack. HDMI 1.4 limits anyone hoping to feed it a console at high frame rates, though the projector accepts a 4K signal and scales it down.
Placement is the stronger side of the spec sheet. The C350e sits on a swivel stand offering 360-degree rotation and 120 degrees of tilt, so it can be aimed at a wall, a ceiling or a sloped surface without props, the right feature set for a device carried between rooms. Digital keystone correction reduces the number of pixels actually used, though, so a heavily corrected image on a 350-lumen projector loses both sharpness and brightness.
EUR 199, but not until 2027
Acer lists the C350e from EUR 199 in EMEA, but not until the first quarter of 2027. That is a long gap, and there is no pricing yet for North America or Asia. The competition at that price is a crowded field of sub-EUR 250 LED portables, most quoting similar brightness with a smart platform included. The realistic buyer is a family that wants a bedroom or garden projector with a friendly design, not someone chasing image quality.
Whether the AI Badge earns its place is a separate question from picture quality: a detachable screen with a photo feed and an assistant is either something owners keep using after a month, or a novelty that ends up in a drawer while the projector is driven by a phone app.
